A while ago, I lost my sunglasses. I don't recall the details about it, except that I was mildly upset (since they were very cheap, but slightly difficult to locate). The place where I found them only sometimes has them there, and I couldn't be bothered to go over and check, so instead I kept wearing bad sunglasses that I had on hand in a props and costume box I have. They were not stylish at all, let alone stylish in the way that the ones I had were.
The ideal sunglasses for me, I feel are mirrored aviators. That's what I lost, and that's the only thing that was going to suffice for me in the end. They fit the look I have, and they occupy a lot of space on what I regard to be an expansive face and forehead. It's no good to have a ton of empty space above glasses of any kind. It's nothing you notice when the face is unadorned, but it's pretty glaring under any other conditions. I've just got to have big frames.

Tops
At a Christmas party a bit ago, I made the acquaintance of a lady in a particular hat. Consultation of a picture from the party reminds me that it was either blue or blue-gray. Somehow, in the midst of a conversation relatively early in the party, the lady offered to let me wear it. I don't think that I made any request. I think it was a case of me making some compliment about the hat (for lack of anything else to say) and her offering it.
Being the lively spirit that I am, I agreed to try it on. That led to me wearing it for the duration of the evening. The aforementioned picture is of me wearing it. It was said during the party that I looked very good in it. I don't know how much I ought to trust that snap assessment, because we were all drinking. I do get complimented from time to time for hats that I wear, although I seldom wear hats anymore.

Fashion Choice
I was at a somewhat upscale restaurant the other day, and you will recall that I am somewhat ill at ease in such surroundings. I don't know sometimes what to make of the people that are to be found there. I get your basic classy dining attire, and can put on a suit as needed, but I don't get some of what people do. There was this man who was doing something that you see from time to time, but which makes no real sense.
He walked in to join some people already seated, and I noticed that he had a sweater draped over his shoulders so that his back was warmed and the weight of the sleeves held it fast to his body. I have never understood this practice. Is he really cold in such localized areas on his body? Such a specific pattern of coldness would signify to me that he must be ill somehow, because usually your whole body gets cold.

Made In The Shades
I made a trip to the local neighborhood dollar store for a few necessary items, and noticed that the line was a little longer than I'd like, so I lingered by the impulse buy area adjacent for a minute. I couldn't help but notice the sunglasses. I typically expect the offerings for eyewear at such a place to be poor. That's what I find to be the case typically at even the best of dollar stores, so why should things be any better at less than the best?
I looked at those shades though, and I saw how wrong I was. They had some really decent stuff. I thought that since this was not a one dollar only type of establishment, the nice sunglasses I was looking at must be in excess of that price. I looked them over, admiring this pair and that, but could see no price tag on them. This signified that they were in fact only one dollar. I was amazed, and decided to override my usual reluctance to make an impulse purchase in this case.

For Him
I happened to be glancing at my shampoo bottle while in the shower, trying to find some indication of how often I should be conditioning when I noticed an interesting reference to a 'Little Black Dress'. Having heard this before, I thought of what that meant. I understand that women consider a slinky black dress to be an indispensable element of their wardrobe, as it is so versatile and compatible with other items. I've heard of this, but can't say I would definitely be able to see it at work.
What I started thinking about was whether there was any corresponding article of clothing specifically for me, and if not, whether I might be able to profit by conceiving of one. The immediately obvious stumbling block is that there are few single piece outerwear garments for the man. There's the jumpsuit, and overalls are really stretching it. Pitching either as a mens' little black dress would seem to be a tough sell, in spite of their meeting at least the letter of the concept if not the spirit.

Zapatas Rojas
I don't like negativity. I fear that in spite of that it comes through in my creative output anyway. Some is appropriate, but as they say, all things are best in moderation. Thus today I choose to write of something that I like. I never used to to think that people paid much attention to shoes, or at least to a man's shoes. When I was a boy, the new school year meant a new pair of basketball sneakers which were deliberately brought to the attention of others, but as an adult I do no such thing. I thought my footwear flew under the radar.
Evidently I was terribly wrong. For the last few years, I had been primarily wearing non-descript white sneakers. They never did draw any notice. By chance, just as my most recent pair was badly breaking down, I came into possession of a used pair of shoes. They were also sneakers, and they were unfortunately not quite my size. Luckily, while they were too long, they were just the right width. Laced tight, they fit like a dream. I'm a practical guy, and considered this good enough to wear them. I didn't imagine that they would be any more than adequate. I was wrong on that.

"They're Sensitive To Questions".
I have previously written about sustaining a superficial wound from a pair of sunglasses. This led me to shy away from wearing them for a while, but I have gotten back into the habit of doing so now that my fear has faded and I have grown more appreciative of the value there is in wearing them. Of course, the very best reason for wearing sunglasses is that they protect the eyes from deadly, insidious UVB rays. The pair I wear may not serve this purpose as well as some, for they are a very cheap pair. I have to imagine that they are some help, but if I were really serious about that I would probably spend more money to get a pair dedicated to screening out the unseen enemy light.
Luckily, even my pair does a fine job of protecting my eyes from the visible light spectrum. As I walk around on the street during the day somewhat often, I would find myself squinting and suffering intense adverse effects from the sun's distant bombardment. Sunglasses are indispensable when walking into the sun. I was commenting the other day about how there seems to be no government concern at all about people driving into the sun as it rises and sets. I think that it's far too dangerous to permit any driving towards the sun at those times. Better that travel be slowed than for lives to be sacrificed in the interest of "convenience". In any event, the sunglasses do help with regard to the sun.
